OC's XO July '21 EotM Report

Hey folks! After OF Day panel discussions, I was considering the helpfulness of having posting summaries. I'd like to try giving an update to review story and help us reflect, hopefully to inspire ideas for the next month. I'll begin entering these summaries as notes in the Post Tracking Spreadsheet (In the monthly count list) as I read posts, and then collect them for a monthly summary.

XO's General Story Summary

---Primary "Sanctuary" plot concerning refugees and a faith conference was moved to the back burner while the CO was inundated with work. We're hoping it will pick up again in August.---
-July continued to feature a Backstory shared with the SS Mary Rose, subtitled "Tracking Party" and detailing an away mission in the backstory of a character on either sim.
-Guests from the USS Potemkin added several posts and interacted with the station. One of the key plot points to arise is a collaborative work on an experimental propulsion method the Potemkin's Engineer shared with Commander Quinn.
-The close of the "Under a Rock" series of posts concluded the thread and left hooks for possible others.
-Some quality character development was posted.

Only A Name

A Prologue post to M2: Sanctuary
Kaspar and Ivnthel were orphans traded as babes in an attempt at strengthening relations between the UFP and Obsidian III. But now Ivnthel finds herself a prisoner as her tribe, the Turani, are the victims of persecution and genocide for their beliefs and practices. Kaspar finds where she is being held and tries to get her back.

Calliope (during her time with the USS Paracelsus) and her away team work with Freecloud local Watchdog, Indigo, to locate a missing crewman who got mixed up with the mob. Baranovski makes some new Klingon friends at the Monsoon Casino while Indigo and Dr Ryder gather some disparate tips in their investigation. Calliope breaks off on her own.

The CFCO of the Potemkin has a strange connection with the newly acquired alien fighter ship.

Calliope trails a character connected to the disappearance of the missing crewman and questions her. Some reward money loosens the lips of the witness and starts putting names to shadowy figures with interests in capturing or silencing the missing crewman.

Subconscious Solutions

While working on analysis and feeling her work being stonewalled, Calliope falls asleep and dreams in Quantum Chess.

Elli-Navine, accompanied by Scott McIntyre, gains an audience with OC's Chief Engineer, Lance Quinn, thanks to a little help from Quantum Theory. They agree to embark on a new project surrounding the Quantum Foam travel drive based on Xec portal technology.

The Quest for Coffee

Zyrra Vehlin and Theodore Winslow, two friends forged in the fire of battle, take it down a notch and get to know one another as they compare notes on their caffeinated beverages of choice.

Calliope stops in at home-home and pens a letter about her past, intending to give it to Lance for their 15th anniversary. But uncertainty leads her to tuck it into a scrapbook of their travels for now.

Under a Rock: Into Focus

The conclusion to the Under a Rock post series. Backed by Capt Callum and Cmdr Kensforth, Calliope gains an audience with the OC command team and presents the discoveries made. There may be many tiny outposts and listening devices hidden through out the Loki system from which the enemy amassed quietly and used to coordinate the attack from. Calliope reveals her analysis pin pointing many of their locations and Command decides to smoke them all out.

The Pet Project

Frustrated at his inability to effect any health improvements for his wife's sake, Lance takes inspiration from an uncanny juxtaposition of letter stencils and begins a new project where his particular set of skills will have a productive outlet.

The Oasis (Potemkin)

While the Potemkin is in for refit and repairs, the Captain and Chief Engineer find a watering hole on the Promenade called the Obsidian Oasis and talk about the people that matter to them.

The team reconvenes and shares what they've learned. It's enough to narrow down a time and a place where everyone is likely to try to get to the stray crewman at once. The team decides to gear up and go.
