| General Overview | Bright, curious and passionate, Zyrra is pretty-much what you would expect from a recent Starfleet Academy graduate. A student of the sciences, her natural aptitude with astrophysics and geosciences complements her thirst for knowledge and passion for understanding. Zyrra needs to know more and to learn; this is her fundamental driving force. Competitive in nature, and occasionally aggressive as most Andorians tend to be, she does often bear a natural need to succeed - and to make sure she is seen doing so. Some people feel she can be too direct and eager - to jump without looking - but the scientist in her usually allows her to balance that inclination with one of logic and method. |
| Personal History | Born the youngest of three, with two older brothers, Zyrra learned from a very young age that she had to be tough and ready for anything. Her father, a gifted scientist himself, was one of the foremost minds on Andoria, working on deep core scanning and geological planetary surveys. He doted on his daughter greatly, in the process teaching her much about his own work and methodology. The young girl grew up with a strong appreciation for nature and the sciences, while at the same time having to constantly compete with her more physical brothers. In her teen life she dedicated most of her time to scientific pursuits, a behaviour encouraged by her father, who wanted her to follow a similar career path to her own. As her understanding grew, so did her thirst for more. She began to enjoy other things - history, and poetry. She wanted to expand beyond mere physics and into an individual’s perception and experiences of those phenomenon. After a time, the prospects available to her on her homeworld were simply not enough - she wanted to get to know the universe outside of that small icy world. Joining Starfleet was a logical step - certainly in her own mind. Her father, to her surprise, did not object, seeing her growth and not wanting to hinder her own exploration. Naturally, the young woman excelled in the theoretical elements of her training, topping many classes in terms of knowledge. Where the young woman struggled as a cadet was in connecting with her peers rather than competing with them. She found that she had made few friends when she had reached her senior years. This changed when Zyrra was asked to join Red Squad, the elite cadre of cadets expected to go on to form the finest group of graduates Starfleet had to offer. Suddenly among cadets that were highly skilled and motivated - and often more so than she was, finally allowed her the perspective she needed to start to trust in her peers. The experience had a huge impact on her outlook, finally rounding-out the hyper-competitive cadet into more of a team-player capable of supporting a crew rather than trying to outshine them. |
