Personality & Traits

General Overview Two words embody Scott's approach to life and work: Tough and Uncompromising.

Although bearing a great deal of wonder and optimism about the universe, Scott has also seen some of its darker side, which has shaded his view on things. As much as possible he tries to be a Starfleet Officer through-and-through; he believes in the dream of the Federation - that to lose the foundations of what it was founded upon would mean losing itself entirely.

Prone to offering dry wit in the heat of the moment, and often takes a hard line on tactical decisions where others might tread more lightly.

Personal History Scott lived in rural Scottish farmlands growing up. It was a fairly isolated experience with his parents and younger brother Andrew, but he learned to be self-sufficient and life was simple. Living in the countryside, he loved to sit out at night and watch the stars, dreaming of one day following in the footsteps of the famous human pioneers throughout the history of mankind.

Scott originally planned to join the Starfleet Marine Corps, but the convincing words of his mother encouraged him to take a less martial path into service and he instead followed the security track through his Academy years. Renowned for being a team player and a stick-it-out tough fighter, he found himself most at home when in the field and engaging in more practical activities over the theoretical ones.

Right out of the academy there were a number of interested Captains looking to take on such a promising young officer. He found his early posting to the USS Excalibur promising, and it was from here that he was recruited by Starfleet Intelligence for a 9-month operation in the territory of the former Romulan Star Empire, supporting in an anti-smuggling campaign. While successful, the operation emphasised Scott’s disdain at the way Starfleet had handled the whole affair, feeling that the refugees had been harshly treated.

He returned to active ship duty with a promotion and a transfer to the USS Potemkin as Chief of Security and a new opportunity to rediscover what it meant to be a Starfleet Officer.
