Personality & Traits

General Overview Even as a baby, Delix was so extraordinarily sociable that his parents would joke that there wasn’t a person or animal that he wouldn’t try to befriend. While this may be viewed as him being a people pleaser by some beings, it is just part of his peoples’ social nature. This has served him well during his career as a councilor as people found that they could be more open with him.

Another misunderstood aspect of Delix is his seemingly never ending sense of optimism that can be misunderstood by others as naivete. In reality, he is fully aware of the darkness that exists in the universe but has seen many times that people can overcome anything.

He has become fluent in the languages of the major powers of the galaxy and is currently studying languages of many of the minor ones.
Strengths & Weaknesses Strengths

- Empathy. Above all else, Delix has an innate understanding of the emotions of others. He would further develop this during his psychological training on Betazed. This has allowed him to have a long and successful career as a councilor.
- Linguistics. Delix has an ear for languages and has been proven quite adept at learning new ones.
- Patience. As with most Denobulans, Delix has a seemingly unending supply of patience
-Sociology. Delix traveled the galaxy even before his time in Starfleet and has learned about many cultures first hand. He would complement this with sociological studies at the Academy and developed a keen understanding of the customs of many species and how they developed.

Weaknesses

- Combat. Delix is a pacifist by nature and barely passed the required combat training at the Academy. This by no way means that he is a coward, just that he is nearly useless in a fight.
- Athletics. He is purely an intellectual and has apparently no coordination or athletic skill
Ambitions Delix wants to experience every culture in that galaxy. He wants to read their stories, eat their food, and experience their beliefs. Though he is well aware that this is an unrealistic goal, he is excited to be on this journey and is curious to see how many races he’ll know before he dies.
Hobbies & Interests Delix loves food. He loves sampling new foods from alien races and can often be found dining at local restaurants when on the worlds. Delix has recently begun attempting to reproduce these dishes to mixed success.

During his time touring the galaxy, Delix developed a love for literature and has an extensive library of books. Centerpieces of his collection include the poetry of Kahless and the writings of Surak.

Personal History Delix was born to Linku and Lasis on Denobula and raised as part of the typical large family unit that was common among his people. He would be raised alongside seven brothers and sisters, ensuring that he was never lonely. His younger sister Katala would be his closest friend and confidant during his childhood and they two were rarely seen apart. In fact, Katala would be the one to introduce him to alien literature and forever change his life. Delix would be fascinated to learn that other species thought differently than he did. This compelled him to collect every piece of literature he could get in order to understand more races.

Upon finishing his primary education, Delix would leave his homeworld in order to meet these cultures first hand. His first stop would be to the planet Vulcan in order to study their ways of logic. He proved to be an adept student and would be slotted to take part in the Kolinahr ritual. He would politely refuse before leaving for a failed attempt to enter the Romulan Star Empire in a quest to learn how their society had evolved since leaving Vulcan. He instead travelled to Tellar Prime. His stay would be short though as he struggled with the species' argumentative nature. Delix would spend years traveling from world to world before ending up on Betazed. It would be on this world that he earned his degree in psychology. Feeling that he still had a lot to learn, he would then attend Starfleet Academy.

Delix would excel at the Academy, having chosen to follow the medical tract with a focus on psychology. His high marks would allow him to become a teaching assistant during his senior year before being given his choices of assignments up graduation. He would make the surprising choice of a long range research vessel on the edge of Federation space as his first assignment. Delix would serve as one of the vessel’s councilors for two uneventful years before he was transferred to a listening post on the edge of Romulan space. He would serve as language specialist for a year before convincing command to reassign him again.

The reassignment would be to the U.S.S. Kentucky as Chief Councilor. Delix would love this position as it would allow him to both help the crew and go on away missions to meet new civilizations. Three years into his tenure, when a failure in the Universal Translator during a tense first encounter would give him a chance to prove himself. Delix had been fortunate enough to be on the bridge during the original encounter and was able to assess the psychology of the Lykonians. This allowed him to develop a crude form of communication using pictographs in order to calm the situation down. This action would earn him the Federation Peace Medal and assignment as part of the delegation between the Lykonians and the Federation. His performance during these talks would impress lead negotiator, Ambassador Mor Tev, so much that the Ambassador would appoint him his Chief of Staff at the newly founded embassy.

For the next five years, Delix oversaw the Ambassador’s schedule as well as worked alongside him as he sought to further Federation-Lykonian relations. Working under such an esteemed diplomat would convince him that diplomatic service was true calling. Tev would encourage this by allowing him to handle minor negotiations. Once he felt he was ready, Tev would personally request that Delix be assigned to Obsidian Command as Chief Diplomatic Officer.
