Sim Feature Post

This award is to recognize posts made in the spirit of holidays, specific genres, strong mood pieces, and other themes that may be named in the award description. These should be creatively unique, quality posts that make good reading and good use of the theme at hand. While they may be part of a bigger story, they should make good stand alone reads, out of the context of the sim. (this award is sim level, Post Spotlight is fleet level)

A Capitalist Send Off
A touching post where we get to see friendship between a Ferengi ensign in intensive care and a Terran ensign.

Corvus' No Good Rotten Day
An immersive post, written in three parts, that depicts the sort of things that can only happen on a Station. What happens, for instance, when a wild animal escapes from an Antican freighter and a group of civilian chefs argue over a vat of peanut oil? Chaos is the answer :)
Lieutenant JG Hannah Wagner

Practicum in Neurology
Another well-researched post, delving in neurology, with soothing music to accompany the dialogue between two doctors, one Terran, the other Vulcan.

Successor’s Dilemma - by Endia and Nikki
When LeBlanc goes to move into his new office, he discovers it still occupied by the outgoing Chief Engineer. LeBlanc finds an indifferent reception and the transfer of power goes smoothly enough, but a small detail leads to a not so small misunderstanding, and sows the seeds for the conflict of egos.

Sim Feature Post: “Better to Give”
An enjoyable read, in the spirit of the festive season, where we are reminded that it is better to give than to receive. A heart-warming notion which is illustrated with a family reunion where the gifts that are given have been selected with great care.

For the post "Cast Away"

Three amusing characters in the persons of Oroff, Desha, and young Brek in his years as an accountant, negotiate the situation as the two young Ferengi are loaded into a transport to take them away to Happy Trails Farm. While this post is mostly full of character, there are undertones of mystery as something fishy is going on at the boss’ house which leads him to want to send his daughter out of harm’s way. Dashes of stinging wit will keep the reader smirking.

For the Post “Change of Plans”
As a plot centric post on the Pathfinder mission, this piece carried a lot of important finer detail surrounding the conditions on the planet below, the spotty amount of knowable information, the lack of communications between the ship and the away team and much more. The reader is guided through this detail with the added complication of the personalities and compiled stresses of the various characters on the bridge as they take orders, give orders, and contradict orders. In many ways, Change of Plans helped to organize the multiple threads unfolding at once, while also complicating and increasing the stakes of the story, to great effect for the tension of the reader. A true work of organized chaos.

The post "Count Oroff" is a wholly enjoyable read peppered throughout with humorous narration, an interesting person in Count Oroff, the title character, and a mysterious situation. The post's wisdom lies in the age old advice, "witness nothing, you live longer", but still leaves Brek, and the reader, unable to help wondering what has really transpired in the wine cellar...

To note the post "Banking" in which Moon makes a sizable bank deposit with a Bolian Banker who manages the branch by long-distance holographic presence. The characterization of the Bolian and in particular his interaction with Moon, who is rather naive surrounding cash and new to money and hence banking altogether, made for a fun and lighthearted read.

For "Ride-Along: The Hard Way"
This is a post in the action genre, but it takes its time to also be funny and smart. Sikan manages to guide but ultimately play the cool observer as the situation unfolds. Tann takes on a teaching role, but takes the wheel and proves his own high level of skill. This post, and the series it is part of, demonstrates that competence is more than just pips on your collar and suggests this particular set of characters might develop into something more than the chain of command alone can account for.

For the Post "Wear and Tear" particularly for the humor and character follies throughout as Moon tries to help Brek address the poor craftsmanship of the suits he was sold, and the tailors responsible try to argue their way out of responsibility until other facts come to light to help persuade them to change their minds... This is a post that pours on the descriptive detail and carries out characterizations to playfully ridiculous levels.

For "Follow Your Spirit"
An introduction post with a full sense of time and place, and employing rich details. While following a mentor and his young protege on a slow walk, the post keeps the reader to the unique voice of the characters, unfolding for us the nature of their invested camaraderie and the recurring context in the beginning, middle, and end, ultimately leading us to Rice's decision to try a path he might not have apart from heartbreak. (A Nov '22 Feature Post)

Not to Mention the Mansion - In this entry, Brek recalls a time when he had wanted to become a homeowner at a bargain price, but changed his mind when he took a tour for himself. A welcome spooky read shared during the end of October.
