What seemed like forever, Spencer and those that he had transferred with finally made their way onto the station. What they had learned at their quick debriefing and introduction to the station had caught them up in more detail of the status of the station. It was obvious that they were all going to be putting in lengthy hours just to get into a fully operational station. This wasn't really an issue for the doctor as he had been striving to keep busy in all odd jobs that most people were to busy to deal with at the time. So when he saw the stress on people's faces, and the open and honest statement that they should all expect to see long and lengthy work days, with very little to no down time for the foreseeable future, he was more than sure he was going to be just fine... and busy.
Making his way through the station and finalizing his temporary quarters until he got his final assigned quarters by his new executive officers, he knew at he needed to check into the primary medical bays. So after what seemed like an forever, Jordan made his way to the main deck. Seeing flickering lights and damaged consoles about, like the rest of the station, he made a mental note of seeing what all he could do to get things working again. He didn't have advanced engineering credentials, but he was capable of doing a couple basic repairs which he had learned over time to reduce the down time of his work areas. So once he walked into the primary infirmary, and down the hallway for the waiting areas, he knew to talk to.
Sparks flew from a nearby panel and then the overhead lights, which were dimmed, came to life a few shades brighter. Two figures emerged from the access panel on the floor, smiling victoriously.
"Maybe you missed your calling in Engineering?" a curly-haired Bajoran smiled.
"Doubtful," a short, petite, blonde-haired woman shook her head. "At least now we won't trip over our own feet," she said, seeing a stranger in her Infirmary. Her instinct was to bite his head off, but seeing that he was wearing science blues, she simmered down. At least at first blush. "Can I help you, Lieutenant?" she asked, smirking as soon as she said it. As the man came closer you could almost smell the Marine on him. His stock naturally went up a bit.
"It seems like I'm not the one that needs help, Doctor..." he paused as he looked around and sighed a bit before walking up closer towards the group and raised an eye brow. "Major... I may like this assignment a little more than I anticipated." He cleaned off his hand on his pants before reaching over to her. "Jordan Spencer, I guess I'm the head shrink around here."
"Minka Mazur, Chief Medical Officer," she shook his hand firmly, "I assume the Counseling spaces are in better shape that the Infirmary?" she asked hopefully. Derelict, maybe, but hopefully far less damaged than her deck though she wasn't sure why this section was so bad. Even a skeleton crew would need a Infirmary functioning correctly.
"Haven't been in there yet. Thought you may need more assistance then an office space for people to talk to," he shrugged as he looked around a bit. "I am a medical doctor but did take time to specialize as a counselor as well. So there is that."
"I'd check in our your space," Mazur replied quickly, "As it stands, this deck is hardly functional. Yours may be fully useless. We're going to need to know if we're sharing space, or if the Counseling suites are at least marginally functional," she explained. It was like facilities triage, so at least part of that was something that she was used to. Beyond that it was going to be just working with what they had until Starfleet could resupply them fully. At this point she was one failed bio-bed away from calling Major General MacTaryn herself and begging for a few Marines from the 5th Medical Company to supplement them.
"Don't worry about the suites. I will go look into it later. I wanted to make sure that the major areas were covered first. Its not like I can't have my staff and meetings in other areas of the station. Plus, if we need to have a padded room, we have other methods as well," Jordan joked as he looked around. The sick bay was lit up, but when it came to functionality, that was another question. In all honesty, the only people he knew that could or would need his department was those that were still on the station when the station returned from the void. "I didn't get much information right of the bat before heading this way."
"As you can see here, we're only marginally functional. Power is limited, but we have secondary systems for the Infirmary that keep us going. It's far worse in other decks. I haven't seen them myself, but I've been told the lower medical research decks are completely offline," she offered. She'd had her hands full just getting the Infirmary up to operational standards. Traipsing about the lower decks, especially carrying a basketball about her waist, didn't sound like a recipe for an ideal afternoon.
"Well..." Spencer nodded as he returned his hand into his pockets and clicked his lips as he looked around. "I'll get out of your hair and go check it out. I can't all y'all going crazy on me. I'll check back in on ya a little later. If something comes up, and you need an extra pair of hands, call me up. I'll be happy to help out."
"Thank you, Doctor. I suspect this crew's going to need a Counselor more than they're going to need me," she admitted. "Especially if we can't get this station powered and duty rotations to a normal schedule," she sighed. A nurse had approached quickly to her left, clearly wanting Minka's attention but she just held up a finger to silence her. "Please keep me updated, Doctor."
"Yup, I'll update you, along with everyone else" Spencer nodded and smirk slightly as he winked at her before heading out. "Take it easy, Doctor!"
