Making ready.

Posted on 08 Sep 2022 @ 5:51am by Lieutenant JG Hannah Wagner

Mission: M3 - Into the Deep
Location: Pathfinder Sickbay
Timeline: MD 6: morning
378 words - 0.8 OF Standard Post Measure

"Is this what it feels like to be a Chief?" Hannah muttered to noone as she walked into sickbay and had the lights raise around her, from nothing to 75% illumination. She didn't have any staff present yet, nor did she know exactly what she was getting into. That unknown did ramp up her anxiety a little, but she was excited at the same time for what was to come.

It was an odd sort of feeling, that she wasn't sure she liked. She was never uncertain of herself in the Operating room, or in patient treatments why did it have to happen now? Hannah hadn't been anxious when she was delivering the Chief's grandson, she'd been angry that they'd dared to question her ability and threaten her life. Maybe the anger had tricked her into not being nervous, after all it was a life and death situation.

Crossing the room, she lay her hand on the status board and allowed it to read her palm scan. Consoles came to life in a spiral pattern around her as it recognized the assigned Chief for this mission.

The console directly before her listed the status of the Sickbay. A fingertip traced the list of stock in place and the numbers of items associated with the stock.

"Computer, please send the stock numbers to my personal PADD, for review later."

"Acknowledged. List transferred."

"Now, computer...display staffing assigned USS Pathfinder."

A list began to populate on the screen and she nodded, moving names around so that she could have a full staff rota. It was basically a truncated version of what she had been doing on the station so it took less than 15 minutes to get the rotation the way she wanted it to be.

"Send rota to medical staff. Attach request for issues to contact me directly. ". She didn't need the staff to switch shifts without her knowledge as her rota had to take several specialties into account. If they switched and she didn't have a specialty on she needed it could be bad for the patients...not to mention her sanity.

Chuckling she walked into the tiny office, looking around for anything personal in the room. There were no hints of the previous occupant of the office. "Maybe someday..."
