Wanted Persons
Posted on 31 May 2025 @ 8:52pm by Commander Calliope Zahn & Deputy Marshal: T'Sai - FMS & Lieutenant JG Gabriel Lyons
Mission:
M4 - Falling Out
Location: OC, Environmental Deck, Convention Center
1889 words - 3.8 OF Standard Post Measure
"Deputy Marshal T'sai to Lieutenant Lyons." The insistent but vulcanoid voice transmitted over the security badge of the team lead. It was known among the Security personnel that the Marshals aboard the station had taken an active role in peacekeeping, integrated with the duties of officers and assigned on watches and patrols with them.
Even as the call came through all of the scanners on the hips of the security officers chimed or buzzed and blinked with an urgent watch update.
"Lyons here Marshal." he replied immediately, looking at the scanner he held in his hand.
"Please be on alert for two suspects," T'Sai continued dryly, "Last confirmed to be in the Main hall of the convention center. A Tellarite identifying as Professor Fezzer Davit, and an Andorian claiming to be Jor'lon, clan Devamaarok. These may be assumed names. Their credentials are apparently spoofed. Profiles from boarding should be updated to your devices."
"My team and I are receiving them now.. any location specific or individual specific information that we need to know before we start the search?"
"Although they were last noted to be in one another's company, they may have split paths. Likely biosigns are available to narrow down suspects whereabouts, although not conclusive. We believe them to still be on the Environmental deck either within the Convention center or outside of it."
"Of course Marshall. Can we place their last known locations on the digital map as well as the locations of our own staff?"
"Affirmative. If located, please attempt to apprehend them in the least disturbing manner possible. We do not wish to upset the conference attendees. Assure the suspects that they are only wanted for questioning at this time. Try not to escalate the situation."
"If they still remain together and decide to split up when they are located, is there a higher priority versus lower priority target or a preference as to apprehension order?" Gabriel asked as he fixed the forward scanner of his PADD.
"We will apprehend them both, as they are both suspected of operating under falsified identities." She said, as if there were no other option. But, understanding the reality of foot chases, after a beat she amended. "The Tellerite suspect is most preferred."
"Agknowledged" Gabriel turned to the trio that was with him, that he was attempting to teach the finer points of security. "Thoughts?"
"Tellarites and Andorians are not your normal cup companions if you will...there's probably some emotional reaction upon seeing them together if they are together." spoke the quieter of the two ensigns....
[meanwhile]
"Stay calm." The Andorian said through his overly wide mouth and his clenched teeth while he strolled the back hallway with his compatriot, somewhat out of the way of the main thrall of the attendees gathering in the lobby.
"First tier advice there! 'Stay calm.' The genius. The audacity, more like. Two little words are all you can manage to eek out in the middle of this fiasco!"
"We don't know for certain that this hold up even has anything at all to do with us. If we overreact, we risk drawing undo attention. As I told you, the package was in position, as planned. By the end of day it will no longer be our problem."
"All the same, I'd prefer to excuse myself early."
"They're going to notice! We'll never make it off the station."
"Speak for yourself. My back up plans have back up plans," The tellerite hurrumphed pridefully. "Don't presume everyone is as stupid as yourself. Good luck and all of that meaningless tripe."
The tellerite fished through his coat pocket and came up with a set of Ident cards, selecting one and running it through a maintenance access reader. For a moment the system didn't react but then chimed approval and displayed a name: Crewman Zalk J'karin, Maintenance Team Beta, Environmental systems.
"You can't just disappear into the J-tubes---"
"Do let me know how the conference goes. And by that I mean, never contact me again. You've been an absolute joy to work with."
The Andorian was wise enough to Tellerite meaning to know that his compatriot in crime was telling him off with the compliment. "The pleasure has been entirely mutual." He intoned coolly with narrowing gaze. Both of them understanding that the other would maintain radio silence.
As the hatch closed behind his now former partner, the Andorian stuck his hands in his pockets and rejoined the crowd. He knew so little about the operation he'd been hired for that even if probed by a telepath there would be little to nothing to make of it all. That was the way these jobs worked. The less one knew, the better. Chilly indifference to the point of ignorance was his stock and trade.
He saw that the lunch hall was opening up and people were moving inside. Whatever the security concern was it seemed already over. Maybe a walk around the park would let him clear his head.
He strolled casually towards the exit from the conference center to the 'outside' environment. It wasn't common that his jobs took him right inside of military installations. Someone had gone to a great deal of trouble to arrange the IDs, and the payment had been measured in bricks. It was enough to start his own specialty delivery service. No more taking calls from 'the noname agency' as his circle called the anonymous contact. He'd take this last payment, disappear, and turn up as someone new in some different quadrant, leaving the UFP and the Agency behind.
He could see the light of the false day just beyond the doors ahead....
A tiny light on the PADD that Lyons had lit, and he smirked ever so slightly. He pressed a button, and the PADD beeped in compliance. The yellow light was now surrounded by an blue line. No maintenance had been authorized in the lock-down of the area, and so any maintenance structures that were entered had been sealed. Not from entry, but from exit. The person who had just now swiped into the tunnel at Junction J, the Environmental hatch would have an interesting time being sealed in there until Security came to remove him from whatever access panel he attempted to exit from.
His eyes fluttered shut and he 'looked' at the people around. Quiet interest in what they were learning, or in their purchases he overlooked just skimming the surface thoughts of those around him. It had been a good idea to search with his abilities, carefully so as not to allow anyone with psychic defenses or abilities superior to his entry into his mind. He felt the ensign beside him stiffen and step in front of him, a 'guard' stance.
Coming up on the small security team, an Andorian in a plain clothes outfit nodded in a simple and respectful 'good day' gesture and moved to step around them. When he found the ensign filling the path one of his antennae swiveled slightly in a 'curious' expression but he made no other moves. "Pardon me," he said, simply.
"Our apologies" the ensign lied smoothly, we had a power failure in our attendee database. We're asking all conference goers to scan their ID, as apparently someone important didn't turn up for work. " The tone he used, implied disgusted indifference to the imaginary engineer that didn't show up for work. He gestured to the scanner, that the Andorian would have to use to pass.
"Of course." There was no hesitation as the Andorian brought out his identity chip, the same one he had used at the boarding gate. He held the chip against the scanner and when prompted presented his face for the match. 'Jor'lon, clan Devamaarok' scrolled across the display... with a flashing security alert. The Andorian's brow furrowed. but he remained non reactive, only pursing his broad lips.
"Lieutenant, one of the profile errors is showing for this gentleman."
Lyons eyes opened and he smiled congenially at the Andorian. "That's just...Perfect. Please accompany me to the office and we'll get your profile error sorted out in a jiffy." He sounded bored, as if there was nothing he would less like to do than figure out errors in the code. He muttered something about not being an engineer under his breath as he indicated the direction the Andorian needed to go.
With an irritated sigh, the Andorian seemed more or less indifferent. "As long as I can be back in time for the next lecture, I suppose."
"I am certain that can be arranged. Which lecture track were you interested in following?" Lyons asked as he walked beside the Andorian, while 2 of his ensigns remained at the post scanning peoples ID's. The young woman followed him as she had been ordered.
"All of the primary lectures have finished for the day but there was a vendor demonstration break away advertised during the networking session. I'm a contractor for Bellevue Labs. I'm hoping to determine if the new sensor tech will be worth adding to our catalog for custom ground vehicles, aquatic submersibles, and small science and exploratory installations."
"Sounds like valuable time we're wasting. It wont be long to fix it I'm informed. After you" he murmured as he stepped aside while the door to the security office wooshed open before them.
A prim Vulcan woman in a perfectly fit and pressed Marshals uniform was already there to meet them at reception. 'Deputy T'Sai' was printed in bold letters on her breast pocket. "Thank you Lieutenant Lyons."
"Ma'am." Gabriel stated, his chin raising as he placed himself in the doorway, to stop the exit of the Andorian gentleman should he decide to flee. He proceeds into the office without notice of the tall security officer and he took a single step in, allowing them to shut behind them "Do you need my further assistance?"
Even as they began, the doors opened behind them, the other members of Lyon's security team arriving with a resisting Tellerite, more noise than anything else as they had him in cuffs and were leading him along.
"I told you!" The Tellerite protested, "The air inside the hall was insufferably stuffy! I was just trying to set it straight for you! Is this how you treat a specialist?"
Lyons raised his eyes to his two ensigns and the smile he shared with them was proud. They'd done well and he intended to debrief them immediately with the good points of their mission. He didn't need to touch on the bad ones, they already knew what they'd done wrong.
With a very slight lift of her palm and tilt of her head, the Vulcan Deputy Marshal motioned in the direction of the interview holding rooms. "If you would set these gentlemen up for questioning, I will be sure to handle the matter from here, Lieutenant Lyons."
T'Sai stayed in place long enough to watch Lyons and his team carry out the task, musing to herself about the next stage of action. Her work on this matter had only just begun. Senior Deputy Marshal Lofthammer already had more in mind for further investigation, and she would always strive to stay ahead of his orders, having to anticipate how his illogical mind would arrive at his conclusions.
It was a worthy puzzle.
