Personality & Traits

General Overview Dresden is serious about his work. He has an extensive background in the security industry in various protective and diplomatic positions. He listens, is very observant, and is generally an interested person. Other than his focus on work, he finds happiness in painting, reading, watching old episodes of the Twilight Zone (1959) or crime scene shows, and hunting wild game. He prefers the real deal but most often has to frustratingly accept the nearest holodeck.
Strengths & Weaknesses One of Dresden’s strengths is his ability to communicate. He is always 100% honest and raw regardless of rank and position. However, he is respectful of the chain of command and to others. Credibility is essential in his line of work; he sees very little daylight of losing it. Strengths do come with weaknesses. Dresden can be absorbed into his work to the point of exhaustion and discipline. Disciplinary measures never exceed verbal warnings. When pushed against the wall, regarding chain of command, he submits. Outside of that, his work/life balance is almost non-existent outside the occasional setting of priorities.
Ambitions Dresden has an interest in owning a farm in Texas, North American Continent, Earth. He hopes to retire at some point in the future and potentially own a cattle ranch which would also allow him the freedom of hunting, which he enjoys doing. Also, he has an interest in having a child one day, but he’s never made that aspect of his personal life a priority. Dresden takes his life day by day and most of it has been work focused. He doesn’t really have any career or other personal ambitions currently.
Hobbies & Interests Other than his focus on work, he finds happiness in painting, reading, watching old episodes of the Twilight Zone (1959) or crime scene shows, and hunting wild game. He prefers the real deal but most often has to frustratingly accept the nearest holodeck

Personal History Dresden was born in 2357 in Pretoria, South Africa on Earth. He was born into a family full of public service. His father Titus retired as a Commodore in Starfleet. His mother Alexandria was a high-level officer in Starfleet Medical R&D. She is also retired. His older brother Denver is serving in the Federation civilian government as its Deputy Councilor of Education.

Throughout his early childhood, Dresden has always been very curious of the world around him. He always had questions and sharp opinion about all sorts of things. His parents embraced this curiosity and encouraged him to explore them. “Dresden” his mother once said to him “explore your curiosities. Ask the necessary questions. Don’t take an answer at face value. It is important that you be independent minded, evaluate, and come to conclusions based on experimentation, evidence, and facts.”
To that end, Dresden ran with that advice. In elementary school, he pursued this curiosity by experimenting, testing, and evaluating. He created interesting and unique experiments that proved existing theories, but approach was highly effective. Dresden pursued his curiosity and interest until he was satisfied with results.

Another interest of his is movies and literature. He loves to read and write. It started with simple short stories from his daily interactions and experiences with his family to more complex plots and character studies. One of his favorite characters is Sherlock Holmes, an investigator that used interesting investigative techniques to solve crimes. Sherlock Holmes is one of the reasons he went into law enforcement.

In 2371, he joined Pretoria Boys High School in Hillcrest. There, he developed another interest in wrestling as both a hobby and competition. He trained under Yuko Oslo, a friend of his father, who was a well-known Olympic trainer with many accolades at both a regional and continental level. Dresden trained under Yuko for many months and competed throughout his high school experience. Dresden was able to win a few accolades including three bronze and one silver regional medals. Academically, Dresden was an average student. He attended classes, completed assignments generally on time and did well on tests and exams. But never aimed to be top-level or an honors student.

In 2375, upon graduating high school, Dresden was offered to compete as a member of Earth Team in the planetary Olympics competitions in the wrestling division but declined due to his interest pursuing higher education off planet.

A few months before departing for college, Dresden’s father died. Titus’s death caused emotional stress within the family but not more so than for his mother. She suffered from mental health complications because of the loss. She was temporarily committed to a long-term medical facility for evaluations but was ultimately released after agreements were made. Dresden established home care for her, and he opted to join the Starfleet Academy rather than pursuing college off world. This would allow him to stay planet side while she recouped.

Dresden joined Starfleet Academy in 2376 in the four-year Bridge Officer Training Program focusing on Security Division. Much like in high school, Dresden did not try to be the best student or aim for the highest grades. He attended but never completed or attempted more than he was assigned, or bit more than he could chew.

His mother passed away in 2378, just two years shy of seeing her youngest son graduate.

Dresden graduated Starfleet Academy in 2380 and was commissioned as an Ensign. His first assignment was to the underground Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards on Mars. He was placed on a rotating security detail assigned to protect the underground ship manufacturing facilities. The assignment for the most part uneventful. A few minor intrusions by some of the locals but nothing significant to be classified as a serious breach of security or enough to write much about in his personal history.

In 2384, he was promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade (JG) and transferred to the Diplomatic Security Division of the Federation Department of the Exterior (Federation Department of State). There, he was part of a multifaceted team providing round the clock security protection to diplomatic assets, personnel, and information.

In 2385, during a routine security assignment protecting the Vulcan Ambassador on Earth, he suffered a severe leg injury from an explosive. After immediate surgery, he spent two years in rehabilitation and therapy. His physical recovery was rather quick, but he needed additional time mostly for mental health concerns. He passed a full medical background and returned to service in 2387.

He received an award and commendation for his actions and was promoted to full Lieutenant. Dresden was never big on celebrations, especially events that focused on him, but he played nice and was respectful. His personality just didn’t jive with it. He was sincerely appreciative; he just didn’t need any of it. It was the same for birthdays and holidays. He just never cared much for it.

Once he returned to full service, he was assigned to the Department of Security and Safety for the Council of the United Federation of Planets. Specifically, as a lead protective officer for members of the Federation Science Sub-Council.

In 2390, received an offer to join the security department at Starfleet Academy. He accepted. He was given the position of Assistant Chief of Security for Starfleet Academy – North, which covered the entire Medical and Special Operations School campus.

After several years at Starfleet Academy, he’s currently seeking a change in scenery and position. He applied for the open position as Chief of Security on Obsidian Command.
