| General Overview | Samual is a highly skilled engineer. He is well versed at navigating the bureaucracy that comes with smoothly operating a dockyard keeping work assignments, and parts requisitions in order. He is also very focused on quality control insisting on thorough checks of all parts, welds and connections. While he is able to pilot a workpod if needed Samual is not a particularly skilled pilot. He also is not a very good fighter. He is tremendously loyal to his Caitian wife Krosin, he can read her emotions very well based on her body language. |

| Personal History | Born in 2364 aboard USS Galaxy the younger son of engineer Edward Johnson and Doctor Janice Johnson. Samual was fascinated by his surroundings on the ship and often explored much to the frustration of the ship's security personnel. In 2372 all civilians were evacuated from the Galaxy due to wartime precautions. During this time Samual and his brother were sent to live with their grandparents on Earth and remained there until the end of the Dominion War. After the war, his parents were reassigned to Earth Spacedock and Samual moved there. Samual pushed himself to excel academically so that he could be admitted to Starfleet Academy. In 2382 Samual was accepted into Starfleet Academy. In the Academy, Samual excelled in propulsion and power management systems, but he struggled in tactical and piloting courses. Between years three and four, Samual met a Caitian named Krosin R'Trerah, Krosin took an immediate interest in Samual who was reluctant at first but eventually accepted her presence. Krosin and Samual got closer throughout his fourth year eventually beginning a romantic relationship. This relationship would become long-distance once Samual graduated, the two spoke frequently via comms and would often spend time together when Samual had shore leave. This distance would take a toll over time, particularly on Krosin, who would sometimes suffer from separation anxiety, particularly when Samual was away on longer missions. Following graduation, Samual reported for duty aboard USS Pioneer as the ship's propulsion engineer. While his duties focused on the warp and impulse systems Samual cross-trained in other ships' systems as much as possible often filling in when the department was stretched thin. After two years aboard the Pioneer Samual was promoted and assigned to be Assistant Chief Engineer. In 2391 five days after departing Starbase 74 after a routine maintenance layover, Pioneer experienced a series of power grid and system failures which crippled the ship forcing it to return to dock. The power grid failures also caused several fatalities of personnel as panels and relays blew out; this included the captain of the Pioneer. Ultimately investigation determined that a number of relays installed during layover were defective, and these relays failing caused a cascade failure. When Pioneer returned to Starbase 74 for emergency repairs, Samual requested a transfer to the Starbase; he was promoted to Lieutenant and assigned as a dockyard project manager. His first task was supervising work on the Pioneer. Samual quickly gained a reputation as an excellent project leader being highly organized and methodical. His history on the Pioneer has always been an influence on his management style. Reassignment to the Starbase allowed Samual and Krosins' relationship to stabilize. in 2392 the two officially married. In 2397 Samual heard that Obsidian Command was looking for experienced Dockyard personnel and put in for a transfer. |
