Selected Quotes January 2024

Fenix Corps - First Day
“If you say so. I must add though, that you don't look like the fastest sub-processor in the panel, Mr Brek, if this mine is your idea of being responsible. I am Mrs Wilander, and this is Spud.” She indicated her companion. “We call him this way because he has never been the same since his accident in the mine. So he just helps around, as best he can, these days.”

Spud looked at Brek with an inane grin plastered on his face and he pronounced what Brek took as an unbearable truth: “Break, Broke, Broken.”

Reverse Housewarming: Scoping Out the Scene
She told him in Klingon that he looked like he was going to dominate the cheese board, and he laughed and, raising a cheese knife in mock contest, asked her if she wanted to challenge him for the brie.

Reverse Housewarming: Money's Worth
“The invitation said open house! Is it not as advertised, Commander?” The other Ferengi intoned the rank as if mocking her. He was wearing a cheap snot-green suit with a quilted plastic look to it and his fingers were covered in rings.

Calliope wasn’t stirred by the implication she was being duplicitous. It was clear he was guilty of his own accusations and just projecting. “I’m not entertaining any more offers on my goods until my friends have had their pick. Don’t make me call security, Pog!”

Time To Say Goodbye
“I know I don’t need to do it, but I like to get out every now and then. It makes me feel…connected; natural.” She said, a smile on her face. She was pretty, with perfect teeth and a sweet face. He liked when she smiled. “If I let the replicator do it, you could replace me with any old person.”

“Is that your grand mating strategy?” He asked, allowing a smile in return, his hands moving to find hers. They were cold from being outside.

“Well, is it working?” She asked, smiling much more jovially then. “I wouldn’t want to be replaced by a newer model.”

A Tough Crowd
“This is an exhibition that reveals people’s emotions. You see, they are little sensors all around those canvases, and they translate what emotions they perceive into splashes of colours. What you see in front of you at this very moment is a snapshot of your emotions.”

The moment he said that, Mrs Novikov stepped away from the canvases. Yet her emotional mirror, so to speak, had revealed nothing untoward. Only the nicest yellows and greens and blues appeared on her canvas. The image, Brek thought, of a relatively happy woman. The same could be said of Kyrill, whose emotional reflections weren’t terribly dark. Was this typical of Hewmons? Perhaps that they liked to appear more miserable than they actually were? In fact, the only one whose mood looked dark was Bajeem. But then he was Romulan. What else to expect?

Heavy Lifting
“A bit of trouble, miss?” He asked, his accented voice colored with his slightly elevated breathing.

Figuring the damage had already been done, she’d just started to drag the entire thing, pulling up more of the carpet as she went along. “What—” She turned around and tried pushing it instead. “Gives you that impression?”

“The deep tracks in your carpet, maybe? The crazed look in your eyes?”

Successor’s Dilemma
The sheer nerve of it, a man coming to your office to break in and then no less to demand to know who you were. “Quinn. Commander Quinn.” He crossed his arms. “Obviously you either have the wrong code, or the wrong door, Mister…” He prompted for a return of a name.

“Leblanc. And I’m certain I don’t. This is my office you’re standing in.” Chris corrected, feeling slightly annoyed by the Commander’s brusque style. “I assume you’re my predecessor. I assumed you’d clear out your belongings as your transfer is already active.”

Acclimation
Jumping ahead of the game, son. He could hear his old commander’s voice in his head, tugging on the rein and pulling Oly back to the task at hand. He’d seen something there; even if it ended up being a dead end, he wouldn’t leave until he’d explored it fully.

As From Within
She gasped and the whole wall filled with snaking lines on all of the canvases. An ever growing squeal began in her head until it was a fever pitch. The horror reverberated between her and the wall art dancing in jerking motions as her wide eyes flitted back and forth until she closed her eyes and, believing herself to be hallucinating abstractions on the canvases, said, "It's not real. The past happened. The past isn't happening now."

The Best Medicine
Ethan smiled patiently, “Self-maintenance is just as important as the maintenance our engineers perform on the ships and stations of Starfleet, Calli. I know it sounds wild to think about spending a couple of hours of downtime, soaking in a tub in the holodeck. But it’s important. You are important. Don’t forget that,”

Reverse Housewarming: A Matter of Tastes
He had always had a strange relationship with the rules. He liked to question them and push the boundaries to see if they were really there. He wasn’t crazy about it, but bringing a gift when he was asked not to was a behavior one could expect from him.

A Nice Bargain
"It's just surprising because, I... I lost my telepathic sense. I wasn't used to picking up minds or feelings anymore, much less my own turned in on me." Ibis' voice was wistful and a whisper. "But when I realized what was happening, I don't know I... I felt I could play with it. Like... making faces in a mirror."

A Humble Middle Man
“I can only present the facts as they stand, Mr. Brek. I am sure the Command team is not without compassion, but you would have been better served to approach us regarding this project before making the purchase yourself.” Louke refrained from adding ‘and wielding emotional blackmail as your currency’. He did, after all, have to remind himself that Ferengi tended to see the world from a different mindset.

Tustle for the Wheel
"People are very glad to see me, and I don't think it's because my reputation proceeds me."

“Well, let’s just say a change was needed, so we’re happy to see what fate has tossed us this time around.”

"Perhaps I'll be much worse. Don't hold your breath for me." he said with a wink and then stood up. "Thank you for your time. I won't hold you any longer."
