OBSIDIAN COMMAND DISCORD SERVER

XO'S GENERAL SUMMARY:

- The Pathfinder’s away team examines the abandoned aquatic space station, recovering an alien body and a computer core to translate. As Quinn and Zahn begin to extract a call for help from the alien computer core, Theseus and Pathfinder go to red alert as something is approaching from subspace...

- Back home on Obsidian Command, our newest members make their way to the station and begin introductions. Zh’Athrun takes over as Tower Control Chief, Rubens makes a big career change after a heartbreak and heads to the station as Chief Diplomat, Ovim answers the call to take up the Chief Tactical role, and a new gifted computer engineer visits with his raucous brothers before boarding the station. Jai counsels a new patient. Brek has a tête-à-tête with a Romulan buyer and reflects on the demise of a haunted house and the former inhabitant.

- Meanwhile on Loki III, Ibn Sharjar has to set down in inhospitable northern wasteland territory to clear sand from the engine ports and narrowly escapes a bloody attack from the long-time tribal enemies of his passengers. Back in Itonian Bajada, Ayalou makes a new friend.

OOC UPDATES:

Again, a strong month for posting count and as always, posting quality. With an influx of new players and some holiday down time for American Turkey Day, even though post count is almost identical to last month, posts per player took a dip but is still quite strong!

ARRIVALS:
Dreamer joined us as Bayre Da'Razi, Engineer/Computer Specialist
Em joined as Limmi Ovim, Tactical Chief
David K joined as Maurice “Rice” Rubens, Chief Diplomatic Officer

Welcome aboard!!

LOAs:
Emu is on ELOA
Christary took an LOA starting mid Nov to the end of Nov.

WEBSITE:
We opened up a new manifest for the cast of recurring characters that is accruing on Loki III (aka Planet Obsidian) the list will be filled out as we’re able to help players reference the established npcs and locations and retroactively link them to the posts they have been featured in.

GUIDES:
Three quick reference guides were whipped up to help both new and old players figure out where everything fits in the context of the recent events of Obsidian Command and surrounding regions. These are currently in gdoc formats. There are more such guides to come. It’s possible much of this can be streamlined and made into a single game guide on the wiki. But the current informal format helps to make it surface digestible in a quick 1-2 page read, while the links within give direct deep dives into the referenced events so players can choose their level of catch up research on their own time. I wrote them in the order given below, according to what felt to me like the order of most relevant items to get up to speed on when joining the game in the current IC context.

M3: Pyrryx 2 Pg guide
M1: The Void & The Attack on OC 2 Pg guide
M2: Faith Delegation & Refugees 1 Pg guide

AWARD NOTES

November '22 Awards

--Meritorious Newcomer– (David)
David joined at the beginning of the month and came with a character already fully loaded in his imagination. In his introduction chapters we are treated to a glimpse into Rice’s past life in high society and Diplomacy, and his personal life that intersects with his friendship to his mentor and with the love Rice has towards his mentor’s daughter. A rejected proposal leads to a career change in search of a life of something a little less expected away from the core worlds, and out to the unknowns of the Federation borderlands.

--Ribbon of Panache– (Polar)
To recognize Polar for his work demonstrating Loki III going beyond description and carrying us through adventures along with Atif Ibn Sharjar and the people he meets and sights he sees along the way. The entire series is highly readable and engaging and has incredible attention to detail. The characters are well rounded, and even vicious tribal opponents are shaped by their cultures and the harsh elements of the planet so as to be sympathetically understood by the reader. (Nominated by Spiral & Nikki)

–Community Engagement– (Nikki)
For all the ic and ooc work you do for O.C. (nominated by Spiral)

--Post Spotlight–
The Great Ancients -by Spiral
(nominated by Polar. Will be submitted to the fleet’s Post Spotlight feature and entered in OC's sim award system)

–Featured Posts–
The Heart Daughters -by Nikki
Follow Your Spirit -by David
(both nominated by Spiral - will be written up and entered into the sim awards!)

FLYING SOLO CHALLENGE

The reward for this challenge is literally just bragging rights for a month to the winner! Meanwhile everyone gets to enjoy a friendly competition helping with the motivation to post, and the chance to read more of each other's awesome stories!

The previous winner for October, Spiral, made another quality count for November. Nonetheless, a peaceful transfer of power has taken place as Spiral has relinquished the monthly word count paper crown to our newest player, David, who had a lot to say in his first month with us, even edging out a really strong month from Polar.

Congrats David! Enjoy the glitter.

OTHER NEWS:
As the sim has grown, new report features have also expanded! There are almost twice as many posts to summarize and lots of great quotes to highlight and I wouldn't have it any other way! But to cut down on the long scroll, I am going to try breaking the individual Post Summaries and Quotes into separate news items so they can be fully appreciated! Stay tuned... ~nikki<3
